Tue, 19 July 2005 My first visit to the San Diego Comic-Con International was all I expected it to be. What an amazing array of Golden Age Comic Books, including eight copies of Batman #1 at the Metropolis Comics booth! My son and I were there for all four days of the show and enjoyed every aspect. We attended several panels and spent a lot of time on the exhibitor's floor. We even braved the l-o-n-g line for the costume show, but may not expend the time and energy to do that again (five hours in line is too long!). While I could go on and on about the show, there was really only one big highlight for me. I was able to spend some time at the Heritage Comics Auction booth where they had the original cover art for Batman #11 with pencils by Fred Ray and inks by Jerry Robinson. Not only did I interview Heritage's Ben Samuels for my upcoming podcast, but I was able to hold the cover (see photograph). Ben will talk about this and other original Golden Age DC covers that were recently discovered and that will be offered for auction in August.
